As AEN begins 2004 we are delighted to announce a new business partner,
Charis Books and More.
This year is very significant to Charis Books as they are celebrating
30 years as part of the LGBT community. Charis identifies itself
as a feminist bookstore, which means they are committed to feminist
values of diversity, inclusion, and justice both in the books they
choose to feature and the space they maintain. However, Charis has
always included men in their definition of feminism and value their
friendships and support.
Over the years Charis has become a very valuable resource and meeting
place for lesbians throughout the Southeast. On any given week,
you will find a variety of local and national speakers and programs
focused on the promotion of lesbian artists and the education of
the LGBT community. Charis also features programs and books that
are devoted to the bisexual and transgender communities.
In addition to their wonderful books, cards, music, bumper stickers,
and jewelry, they have a wonderful children's corner featuring a
large variety of children's books.
In 1996, Charis created a separate non-profit, Charis Circle, to
sponsor and fund their ever-growing programs. You can find a listing
of their programs at www.chariscircle.org.
At www.charisbooksandmore.com,
you can order any book in print and read recommendations of new
books by the staff.
Charis is located in Little Five Points at 1189 Euclid Avenue.
You contact them at 404-524-0304 (program information or book orders)
